TheNorickFamily.Thegiftofadoption

I can't believe it has already been a month since I have blogged!  I suppose the reason was because we didn't have much adoption "NEWS" to share.  Until now...

The initial paperwork wait is officially over! YAY!
All clearances and our autobiographies and assessments have been approved!

We have been excepted into Hopes Promises Home Study process and have  been assigned an amazing caseworker named, Rachel!
In the bible, Rachel was the second wife of Jacob and the mother of Joseph and Benjamin. Today, Rachel is seen as an intercessor for the unborn.  Therefore,  I feel that our caseworkers name being Rachel is so fitting for the adoption process!

We are so excited to be moving forward in our home-study and approval of our portfolio as our last big hurdle before we are shown to birth-mothers! :)

There will be three home-study dates:

May 12th at 9 am (in Castle Rock.) ~ They will be interviewing Tim and I separately for ~ 4 hours about everything from our past experiences growing up to our thoughts on or current practices of parenting.  It is a bit intimidating, but we have been through it before and have been approved in the past so it helps take the edge off a bit.

May 28th at 9 am (in Castle Rock) ~ Another 4 hour day, but this time we are together for the time, so it doesn't seem as long. ;)

June 9th at 9 am ~  Finally!  The Home Inspection! The day we have been anticipating since the beginning of restarting the adoption process with Hopes Promise.  We know that it is one of the last steps before being shown to birth-mothers.  I can't wait to get this under our belts!

... Here is the most exciting part!!! ... If nothing comes up, we will be officially done with our home-study as of June 10th, when our Home-study is presented to the agency.  If it is approved, our portfolio will be able to be shown to birth-mothers! Eeeek! So exciting!

Below you will see our portfolio!  We are working on the last touches on it and would like to ask you to Please feel free to glance through it and make us aware of any typos before we send it to print!
Thank you for your help!  WE ARE SO EXCITED!!!

HomeJoy and My Little Boy

I am so excited for this Thursday(March 27th)!  We get to have our Administrative meeting with HP and will be given our Home-study binder to get going on our paperwork  They say that it usually takes 18 weeks or more to get it all done... I can't help but desire to set some time of record for completing the paperwork in record timing. ;)

In the meantime, I would like to share something REALLY special that happened a couple weeks ago.

Prior to my surgery on March 3rd, I found a House Cleaning deal online through HomeJoy.  While Jerric was cleaning, Isaiah was intently watching him for quite some time until I could tell something was stirring inside him.  Finally he introduced himself, " Hi, my name is Isaiah."  Jerric seemed surprised that his shadow finally spoke and replied, "Hi, My name is Jerric."
Then the following conversation ensued:

Isaiah: We are going to have a baby from adoption!
Jerric: Oh really?  That's great bud!
Isaiah: Yep, Twins. A boy and a girl.
< Insert me with my jaw dropping in the background and my interjection, "Oh yeah Isaiah?">
Isaiah: <In a slightly irritated voice due to my reaction> "Yes Mommy. Twins. A boy and a girl. Jesus told me."

Needless to say, both Jerric and I were at a lack of words. Little Isaiah was so adamant with a "This is how it is" air so I just responded with a chuckle, " Guess we shall see."

Later that night I told Tim of what Isaiah said and Tim spoke of the benefits of it Isaiah was right.  It would be one adoption process that would bless us with two kiddos to love, who would be biological siblings and would be able to share the bond of being twins forever!  I admitted to Tim that I was secretly having to tone down the possibility in my mind because that this would truly be a dream come true; I have ALWAYS wanted twins.

Later that week we had our dear family friends, the Bannans, over for dinner and Ray and I decided to ask him a little bit more about it to get a feel for how serious he was about this idea.
Ray asked him where he was when Jesus told him that we were to have twins and Isaiah responded matter of fact voice, "In my room. When I was quiet. Then he said that."
We continued,

Ray: "What did he sound like?"
Isaiah: "He sounded nice."
Me: "Were you asleep when you heard him?"
Isaiah: "No, I wasn't sleeping.  I was awake."
Me: So, You were awake and just quiet in your room when Jesus told you?"
Isaiah: "Yes. He told me that. Cause I was listening."

Our jaw dropped.  We were speechless.. out of the mouths of babes... [Jesus talked to me] In my room.  When I was quiet. [...] "He told me that.  Cause I was listening."

And with that he was off to play and we were left to ponder the wise words of a 4 year old.  I don't know if we are going to have twins, but I do know that I am forever touched by his pure faith.
Praise God.

Le Peeps with our lil' Peeps

The day after Valentine's Day, Saturday, February 15th, 2014, Tim and I brought the kids to Le Peeps for Breakfast and a
BIG SURPRISE!
After much prayer and discerning, Tim and I felt in our hearts that God was calling us to once again walk the road of adoption.  I could hardly constrain myself I was busting with excitement and anticipation and we sat down at the booth, settled, in and then handed a note to Becki to read the front.  We asked Becki, "Who is this note to?  She read and replied, "The Norick Kids!"
The interest was officially perked at this point! ;)
"What does it say?"  Elijah asked.  "Why don't you read it and tell us, Elijah." Replied Tim.  I was about to explode at this time!  My heart was about to jump out of my chest as he carefully read a set of "Special Instructions," set for the kiddos from Jesus: "(Loving) 2 big brothers & 2 big sisters needed for New Norick Baby!  Love, Jesus" WE ARE STARTING THE ADOPTION PROCESS!  The Children erupted with joy and excitement and as any self-controlled mother would do... I blubbered like a baby! ;)  It was a moment of great joy and anticipation that I will never forget.  Whoever this adoption brings to our hearts and home is already loved beyond measure! Praise God for blessing me with children who value life as much as Tim and I!  We don't know what this road is going to look like, but what I do know is with God's guidance, it will be a blessed ride.
